The Saint Peter Baseball Association has made a nearly 10-thousand dollar donation to update the public address sound system at Veteran’s Memorial Park.

Fundraising Chair Jeff Knutson says the new equipment will replace a nearly 20-year old system.

“We’ll have bluetooth, wireless mics, AM and FM radio. One of the features that the directional sound of the speakers will keep the PA system right on the field and it won’t wonder into the neighborhood, because it is in close proximity to a number of houses around the ballpark.”

The sound system will be installed this spring.

Knutson adds the field has been a mainstay in the community and there has been great support from residents to make further updates.

“The baseball association got some new blood in there. We had some go-getters there that knocked on some doors and had an opportunity to solicit a lot of funds. There were a few big surprises in there too with a couple of civic groups in there.”

In June of 2017, a 39-thousand dollar donation paved way for the construction of a new press box on top of the first base dugout at Veterans Park.
