Construction crews kick-off the 27.5-million dollar project on Monday to reconstruct thirteen miles of Highway 60 in Watonwan County.
The westbound ramps at the intersection of Highway 60 and County Road 12 will be closed and will reopen on August 10. The eastbound ramps will close on August 1 and reopen to traffic in November. The eastbound ramps on Highway 60 at the Highway 4 and County Road 57 intersections will also close on Wednesday and reopen in November.
Highway 60 traffic will also move from the current four-lane divided highway to a single-lane, head-to-head configuration in the westbound lanes beginning Wednesday.
No detour is anticipated for through traffic on Highway 60, but there will be periodic bridge closures.
The two-year project includes resurfacing, removing and replacing road signs, constructing a snow fence at the Watonwan River bridge and replacing guardrails.
