Advocates are calling on state lawmakers to support a ban on gay “conversion therapy” for youth under 18 and vulnerable adults. The policy has passed in the House, but supporters say Republicans in the Senate are proposing adding language that would render the ban ineffective. Democratic Senator Scott Dibble of Minneapolis has championed the ban and says…

“The Republicans are bobbing and weaving, they are trying to get out of this box that they’ve created for themselves, they’ve put themselves in this corner.”

Republicans argue that the ban infringes on people’s religious freedom and individual rights. Dibble says “it does not look good” that the measure will pass this session.
