The Mankato Department of Public Safety has issued a warrant for the arrest of a Minneapolis man who led police from several agencies on a high-speed pursuit last week.
Commander Dan Schisel said the department got a tip that 42-year-old Damon Anderson was in Mankato and, “When he saw law enforcement the individual fled back to his vehicle. That vehicle then fled the area.”
Mankato P.D., Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Deputies, Minnesota State Patrol and officers from a few small town departments were involved in the resulting chase. Schisel said the pursuit reached speed of over 100 miles per hour and, “Went east, through some county roads and then onto Highway 14. The vehicle then fled on Highway 60, going through Madison Lake and Elysian. When the vehicle got toward Elysian the pursuit was then terminated based on safety reasons.”
Scanner traffic at the time indicated that Anderson was believed to be armed and dangerous.
Court records show that he was wanted for escaping from the Anoka County Workhouse last month, following a disorderly conduct conviction. His long list of prior convictions includes criminal sexual conduct, first degree robbery, domestic assault, felony drunk driving, and many traffic violations.
