The 8th annual 2018 Old Town Art Fair is this weekend in Mankato.

Greater Mankato Growth President Jonathan Zierdt said the City Center Partnership launched an event called Infuse this year, and this weekend Old Town will be filled with artists. “How do you bring the performing arts, whether they be visual or performance-based, etcetera, right to the streets,” he said was the question they strove to answer with the event, “SO that people can experience art in the purest form, in a very accessible form.”

He said there are several elements to the art fair, including a, “Chalk Park Festival from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., next to Whimsy and Weather, and that will feature some local artists who will do their work in chalk art.”

And local artists will take over the alleys in Old Town. Zierdt said there will be, “Pop-up performances in the alleyways from the Riverfront Arts group and the Suzuki School of Music and they’ll have a number of performances.”

The Institute of Environmental Assessment is also teaming up with Bellissimo Paint and Coatings in welcoming the public to participate in a community mural.

The art fair runs from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
