The Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Minnesota and North Dakota is warning consumers about fake websites selling masks, sanitizers, and other items related to COVID-19. The BBB’s Bao Vang says the sites offer these much in demand items–but never actually send them to shoppers. She recommends:
“Know who you’re dealing with, check the spelling and the domain names, and look for other tell-tale signs, such as poor grammar, lack of information, and even some capital letters in the middle of sentences.”
Two recent sites on the BBB’s radar for scamming consumers are popumart.com and mizinshop.com. Anyone who feels they been victimized by a fake site is encouraged to report it on the BBB’s ScamTracker.
