The Blue Earth County Yellow Line Project has been recognized with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties.

The awards honor innovative, effective county government programs that strengthen services for residents and the Yellow Line Project was honored in the category of Human Services.

County officials say the project is designed to provide an early response to people with mental or chemical health problems who have become involved with law enforcement and are not a risk to the community – to consider all options before a person crosses “The Yellow Line” into jail.

Nationally, awards are given in 18 different categories that reflect the vast, comprehensive services counties provide.
