High water and passing debris have caused the failure of the boat barrier upstream of the Rapidan Dam.

Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Captain Paul Barta says that increases the risk to anyone entering the Blue Earth River upstream from the dam and they are asking boaters and fishermen to avoid doing so until repairs are made.

Officials aren’t sure when it will be fixed because there is the possibility of more rain and continued high water but say it’s not likely to be repaired for at least two weeks.
