A 38-year-old Burnsville man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison for a violent kidnapping in 2017.

Dontay Reese pleaded guilty in February. He’d been accused of meeting the victim in downtown Minneapolis and offering her a ride home, but instead, he drove her out of state over into Wisconsin. Reese told the victim he would take her “several states away” and use her to make money as a prostitute. The victim attempted to escape multiple times–but was violently restrained and assaulted by Reese. Eventually, she was able to get free and track down a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper. Reese, who was chasing after the victim, was taken into custody. He is also charged with assaulting a federal law enforcement officer.
