A bill repealing the governor’s emergency order and allowing all Minnesota businesses with COVID safety plans to re-open is moving forward in the Republican-led state Senate, over objections of the Walz administration. Assistant Health Commissioner Dan Huff:
“What happens in one sector of our state — be it in a gym, a bar, a restaurant or other businesses — spills over to the rest of our community, including those who are most vulnerable.”
Brooklyn Park Republican Jason Rarick responds reopening essential businesses didn’t cause a spike in COVID — and other businesses should have that same option:
…”to be able to put in place a plan to keep their customers safe, to keep their workers safe, and keep their businesses open and alive.”
The bill will face a tough road in the Democrat-controlled Minnesota House.
