Minnesota state parks and trails will host more than 30 of its popular candlelight events again this winter, including one at Sakatah Lake State Park – which stretches from Mankato to Faribault.

The Minnesota DNR’s director of parks and trails says the, “Candlelight brings out winter’s soft side and the flickering light against snow creates an unforgettable experience.”

The 1 or 2-mile trail loops start at the parking lot or visitor center and officials say they are suitable for beginner-level snowshoers or hikers of all ages.

The event a week from Saturday, February 10th, runs from 6:00 and 9:00 p.m. and wraps up with s’mores and hot cocoa by a bonfire.
