MDH: Minnesotans should test for radon

Health officials are encouraging you to test your home for radon this winter. The state Health Department's Dan Tranter says radon occurs naturally in Minnesota soils all across Minnesota. "It is a lung carcinogen, it's the 2nd leading cause of lung cancer and the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers, unfortunately, lung cancer is still by far the leading cause of cancer deaths in our country." Tranter says about 40-percent of Minnesota homes have dangerous levels of radon and the only way for residents to know if their home has radon is to test.
