The Children’s Museum of Southern Minnesota has donated about 200 pounds of ground pork, pork chops, and pork roasts to the ECHO Food Shelf.
Two pigs, donated by Schwartz Farms, Inc. of Sleepy Eye, were raised at the Children’s Museum during the summer and went to market in early September. The pigs have been processed at Vernon Center Meat Market.
This donation occurred right before the kickoff of the 4th annual Harvest Festival at the Children’s Museum. Harvest Festival will run through the month of October. The festival features agriculture and harvest-related educational programs geared specifically towards young children and their families and the activities will take place in the Museum’s indoor and outdoor exhibits.
