A coalition with the goal of universal childcare and early education access in Minnesota plans to take that fight to the state capitol. Karin Swenson, who runs a preschool and childcare center in Rochester, says current state aid following the impacts of COVID-19 is only a bandaid.

“It has been very very very helpful that we’ve gotten help from the state in terms of grant monies. But it is a system that was very very broken before.”

Swenson and the group are currently working on legislation to create a 10-year plan for universal access to early childhood resources.
