Landlords may again evict tenants for not paying rent, with the state’s COVID moratorium now phased-out — except tenants with pending applications for rental assistance can’t be turned out until next June 1st.  But Democratic Representative Alice Hausman from Saint Paul, a key player in negotiations with Republicans, says additional work is still needed:

“I just fear that, between the pandemic and income inequality, and this burden of housing falls more heavily on some people than others, that it is going to be messy.”

Particularly if the pandemic drags on, housing could again be an issue for the 2022 Minnesota Legislature.
