Crews used last week’s favorable weather to establish containment lines north and east of the fire to protect the town of Isabella.  Information Officer Stefani Spencer says where possible, they cut those breaks directly at the edge of the fire to stop it right at that point — and she says this week…

“If the weather is gonna continue to cooperate with us, we’re going to continue to look for opportunities to go direct along the southern actual border of the fire.   We would prefer to get direct containment lines in at this time and just have it black.”

At last count 14 primary structures and 57 outbuildings were destroyed August 23rd when strong winds whipped the fire into an inferno — but since then weather has been relatively favorable, giving crews the opportunity to strengthen defensive lines.
