Blue Earth County is still looking for applicants for the 2018 Citizens Academy. It’s meant to give participants a behind-the-scenes look at government and how various county employees perform their jobs, as well as how each department serves the community.
Classes are taught by county leaders from a variety of departments and will cover a range of areas, including probation, the sheriff’s office, county attorney, human services, public works, finance, environmental services, and others.
Citizens Academy is a free, seven-week program, and classes are held Tuesdays from 6-9 p.m. from March 20 through May 1.
Enrollment is limited to 20 participants, age 18 and over.
The registration deadline is approaching quickly – it’s on Friday. Those interested can apply on the county’s website.
