State health officials are concerned that the continuing spike in cases of the COVID Delta variant may impact how we spend the upcoming holiday season. The state Health Department’s Kris Ehressmann says most of us don’t want to miss out on gatherings, but we need to take precautionary measures…

“The highly contagious delta variant is driving Minnesota’s COVID case numbers to an alarmingly high level our hospitals remain crowded and there are still many of our Minnesotans who do not have vaccine protection.”

Ehressmann is urging Minnesotans to get vaccinated. On Wednesday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 5,277 new cases of COVID-19 and 43 more deaths. And as of Wednesday, there have been more than 831,000 positive cases of coronavirus–including reinfections–reported statewide.
