Lawmakers continue talks at the State Capitol, with House Democrats wanting a billion dollars for COVID bonuses for front line workers, and Republicans wanting 2.7 billion dollars to replenish the COVID-depleted Unemployment Insurance Fund and avoid business tax increases.  Meanwhile, outside the Capitol Wednesday afternoon, striking Minneapolis teachers demanded more money for schools:

“We’ve got a nine-billion-dollar surplus and we’ve got an unemployment bailout for the largest corporations in this state sailing through that Capitol!  What do you think of that?!”

“We promised small businesses, we promised employees that we would make that (Unemployment Insurance) Fund whole, so it was stable and reliable for them.”

…Republican Senator Eric Pratt from Prior Lake.
