A 22-year-old Kasota man was arrested for drunk driving, after the Mankato Department of Public Safety says William Beranek was spotted driving a pickup with the transmission dragging, significant damage to the passenger side, and the rear wheels locked up.

When the officer made the traffic stop and asked Beranek to step out for field sobriety tests, the criminal complain shows that he responded, “Can’t we just go to jail? I’m going to plead guilty.” Investigators say he failed those tests, and blew a .199 on a portable breath test.

In an interview, Beranek told police that he though the truck was damaged when he’d hit a light pole near Subway, but officers weren’t able to find any damaged street lights. He did apparently admit that he’d had, “A whole lotta beer.”
