A 21-year-old Alexandria woman is charged with receiving stolen property and failing to stop after a January crash in Mankato while driving a rental car she failed to return.

Mankato Police say Alya Yerkes was driving the Enterprise vehicle on Second Street, and turned directly in front of a minivan with a couple and three children in it. Nobody was injured in the crash, but witnesses told police that three people got out of the car and ran off, dropping a meth pipe along the way.

Witnesses identified Yerkes as the driver.

Court records show that Yerkes has an extensive criminal history involving check forgeries, thefts, and a prior failure to stop after a collision. Those offenses are out of Douglas County; although Yerkes is currently on supervision in Polk County and with the DOC.
