The Minnesota Department of Transportation is warning drivers in the New Prague area of a weeklong detour that begins a week from Wednesday.

Crews will be replacing two railroad crossings for the Union Pacific Railroad between Highway 21 and 3rd Avenue Northwest.

MnDOT officials say traffic will be detoured to Highway 21, Scott County Road 2 and Highway 13 for three to seven days. Access will remain open, however, to all downtown businesses via Highway 19 and local streets.

While the Union Pacific crews are making their repairs, MnDOT crews will patch the roadway.

Highway 19 in New Prague is scheduled for a major overhaul in 2020.
