As students head back to school, debates continue about best practices for in-person learning and safety in the classroom. At this point, the ultimate decisions about what’s best are being left to school boards and administrators. Education Minnesota’s Denise Specht (speck) says that’s challenging…

“Now I’m not saying that the public shouldn’t be voicing their concerns or sharing their best ideas, but honestly the level of emotion and anger that I’m seeing out there, I just can’t imagine having to make a decision around the safety and health of our students with that added stress.”

Specht says educators have learned from the last year and a half of the pandemic, and she’s confident Minnesota can be successful if people follow masking and vaccine recommendations from health officials.
