The National Weather Service says with low humidity and breezy conditions expected, the fire risk is elevated for Sibley, Redwood, Brown, Nicollet, Watonwan, and Martin Counties Thursday afternoon. Meteorologists say that will hold true on Friday as well.

Flood warnings continue for areas along several local rivers. The Minnesota River at Mankato is at 20.89 feet, with flood stage at 22 feet. The river is expected to rise to near flood stage Friday morning.

The Cottonwood River at New Ulm is at 15 feet.. Flood stage is 11 feet, and the NWS says moderate flooding is expected to continue through Saturday afternoon. The water is impacting Cottonwood Street west of the river as well as some other roads along it and low lying areas.

Minor flooding is occurring on the Minnesota River at Henderson, which is expected to continue rising by Saturday morning then begin falling. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has again closed Highway 93 between Henderson and Hwy 169 due to backflow on the Rush River.
