(Minneapolis, MN) — A University of Minnesota epidemiologist says hospitalizations are the best metric to gauge if COVID-19 lockdowns are needed. Michael Osterholm said he doesn’t have a ton of faith in the numbers being seen right now because hospitalization numbers are lagged and people aren’t reporting tests like they were earlier in the pandemic. Osterholm said the public is done with the virus, but the virus isn’t done with the public. He said the best advice health experts can offer is wearing masks and getting vaccinated.
