Over 40 Fire Departments spent the weekend dumping water on the grain elevator fire in Northrop as crews also had to battle the cold elements.
After a grain dust explosion at the facility on Thursday, a fire at the grain elevator reignited around 5 a.m. on Friday morning. Both the cold weather and access to adequate water hampered the effort to put out the blaze.
Scanner audio on Sunday morning indicated that crews were beginning to clear the scene as the fire was put out.
No injuries have been reported.
Three employees escaped serious injury during the initial explosion on Thursday. The top portion of the grain elevator at 109 North Bridgeman was blown apart, causing widespread debris.
