No warnings were issued on Tuesday afternoon, but a funnel cloud was spotted around 1:30 p.m. approximately six miles west of Saint Peter.
Amber Swing of Springfield was heading back home from her daughter’s swimming lesson when she spotted the rope funnel on Fort Road.
“There was just a little bit and then I kept driving and then it was like spreading and I’m like, is that a tornado. So then I pulled over and took a picture.”
Swing said it’s the first time she has ever seen anything like it.
“It lasted about five minutes and then it broke apart in the middle. It was kinda neat because you could see that water spin off it, where it like spread apart. Then it kind of dissipated after that.”
She added that she didn’t see the funnel touch down on the ground.
