Thursday is the American Heart Association’s annual Go Red For Women Luncheon in Mankato, which will include free health screenings, a powerful story from a heart survivor, panel of experts, a Rock the Red fashion show featuring additional heart survivors, and a heart healthy meal.

Nationally, the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement has raised over $85 million for women-specific cardiovascular research and education, which is the number one killer of women.

Regional Director for the American Heart Association Jennifer Cucurullo said the event is meant to raise awareness of cardiovascular diseases in women, as well as give women, “The resources they need to take proactive steps and be healthy.”

Thursday’s luncheon is at the Country Inn & Suites, Mankato Conference Center from 11 a.m. – 1:15 p.m. Funds raised will go towards lifesaving research, educational programs, and advocacy efforts in Minnesota.
