A 63-year-old man from Good Thunder is facing a charge of animal cruelty after police say he shot a neighbor’s dog.
Tri-City Police got a call from a concerned citizen, about a dog that was visibly sick and standing in the road near Willard Street in the City of Good Thunder. The dog was reunited with its owner but died after being taken to the vet. A necropsy determined the dog was killed by a gunshot to the abdomen with a pellet gun.
Investigators say Brian Johnson admitted that he shot the dog, and said he did so because he was sick of the dog always coming into his yard and urinating on his trees.
In the interview, Johnson added that he was afraid the dog could be aggressive toward his grandchildren but admitted he had never seen the dog acting aggressively.
