Goodbye wintry mix. Hello dangerously cold wind chills. Joe Calderone is with the National Weather Service in Chahassen.
“There’s dangerous cold air coming into the area tonight,” said Calderone. “The temperatures will be below zero. Add in wind at ten to fifteen mile an hour winds we’re definitely looking at wind chills of 20 below.”
Calderone is saying the chances are increasing of a major winter weather event Friday into Saturday.
“I don’t want to say the B-word yet but with significant snowfall and high winds forecast for this weekend that is a possibility,” said Calderone.
Current estimates in the Mankato area are five to 12 inches snow Friday into Saturday.
