Some state lawmakers are calling on the Walz administration and state Health Department to prioritize getting the COVID vaccine out to seniors. State epidemiologist Kris Ehresmann says she understands the concern but says a limited supply from the federal government remains an obstacle…

“Nearly a million are 65 and older in Minnesota, until we get more vaccine in Minnesota, it’s going to continue to be really difficult to get an appointment.”

Ehresmann says more vaccine is available to seniors this week than ever before but says it’s “still a drop in the bucket.” Earlier this week, Governor Walz announced more than 35-thousand Minnesotans age 65-plus may have access to COVID vaccines starting this week at more than 100 locations across the state.
