Governor Tim Walz says with the state now in control of directing National Guard activity, law enforcement response to any unrest will be clear and obvious should it be needed tonight.
“You will not see that tonight, there will be no lack of leadership and there will be no lack of response on the table,” said Walz.
Walz acknowledged problems with the response to Thursday’s violence.
“An armed presence on the ground in the midst of where we just had a police killing is seen as a catalyst. My point to that was, is, we don’t need a catalyst, it’s already burning,” said Walz.
Minneapolis and St. Paul will both be under an eight a.m. to six p.m. curfew both Friday and Saturday nights.
