Greater Mankato Area United Way announced on Wednesday afternoon that it has met its 2018 campaign goal of 2-million 50-thousand dollars.
CEO Barb Kaus say funding will continue to trickle in until the end of March.
“This is our third year of surpassing our goal. The last two years combined we raised over 100,000 dollars more and gave that money out. So that’s a really proud moment for us. We couldn’t do it without the people that do donate to the United Way. Hopefully those that don’t today, do give something because then we can help more of the people of need and continue to give out more dollars.”
Money raised from the campaign will help fund 57 area programs in Blue Earth, Nicollet, Le Sueur and Waseca County.
Campaign Chair Eric Boelter of Community Bank said they are able to make a huge impact in the community by meeting the goal.
“We go through a stringent review process every year with all the different agencies and making sure that we’re making the biggest impact possible within our community. You know, last year we impacted over 50,000 people in our region, that’s just a staggering amount of people. We’d like to make it more, we really want to positively influence peoples lives.”
The 2019 campaign goal will be announced this coming spring.
