The National Weather Service says localized flooding and a brief tornado are possible this afternoon and evening in south-central Minnesota.

Heavy rainfall is possible into tonight, with the greatest chance near or south of the Minnesota River Valley. Scattered thunderstorms are also possible this afternoon, with a slight chance for funnel clouds or a brief tornado.

Scanner audio at 3:19 p.m. indicated that a resident near North Mankato spotted a brief touchdown.

Chances for scattered thunderstorms will continue through Friday.
