Six miles of Highway 14 in the Mankato metro will receive upgrades starting on Monday.

“Highway 14 won’t be closed, it’ll just be brought down to a single lane or some detours for the ramps. But yeah, it’s more resurfacing sections of the highway and making some more maintenance and upkeep of the road,” says MnDOT District 7 Public Affairs Coordinator Anne Wolff.

The 5.3-million dollar project includes resurfacing, repairing deteriorated culvert sections, updating guardrail at bridges and improving the pedestrian sidewalk ramps at the 3rd Avenue and Riverfront Drive interchanges.

Construction on the roadway will take place between Lookout Drive in North Mankato and Highway 22 in Mankato. It’s anticipated the project will be completed by the end of July.
