An open house to gather input on the future of Highway 22 from Mapleton to St. Peter takes place Thursday afternoon.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation’s Rebecca Arndt said there is a lot of interactive information available online. “There’s a lot of background with the Highway 22 Corridor site,” she explained, “To really understand the traffic movement, where it’s coming from, where it’s going, and why this kind of intersection improvement might be better than that kind of intersection improvement.”

Arndt added that they welcome two-way exchange as the planning process continues and said, “Right now we’re at the ‘issue collection’ point in this. They have done some traffic analysis and that’s what we want to share with the public, so if we all have the same information we may all come to the same conclusions.

The open house is being hosted by MnDOT and the Mankato Area Transportation Planning Organization, and takes place from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at the MnDOT Headquarters on Bassett Drive.
