A new study by SmartAsset ranks Mankato as the fourth best hockey town in America.
According to data crunched by the organization, 9.5-percent of the town’s population turns out for the average Mavericks game which ranks in the top 25. Home to Minnesota State Maverick hockey, the city had the sixth highest Google search activity for the word “hockey” in the study.
Data also factoring into the ranking included Mankato’s unemployment rate, which was the eleventh lowest. The study also ranked the City in the top 30 for its concentration of dining and entertainment options.
The number one hockey town in America went to Grand Forks, North Dakota, which is home to the University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
Other Minnesota towns to crack the top 25 included St. Paul at number ten and St. Cloud at the fourteenth spot.
