Mankato Police are looking for a homeless man wanted for theft, after equipment belonging to Sentenced to Serve was found in his vehicle.
Sentenced to serve is a program that allows those convicted of crimes to perform community service in order to reduce jail time or fines.
Mankato Police pulled over 46-year-old David Hupp earlier this month when they saw him behind the wheel, knowing that his driver’s license had been canceled. The officer saw in plain view a chainsaw and a weed eater with “STS” on them and believed they were stolen.
Hupp claimed that a Facebook friend known only as “Jesse” dropped the equipment off at Washington Park so he could borrow them to do some work.
Nicollet County confirmed the items were stolen from a locked shed at Seven Mile Park the day before.
Police requested a warrant for Hupp’s arrest.
