Minnesota House Democrats this afternoon (Mon) rejected Republicans’ demand for an immediate vote on a state gas tax holiday from Memorial Day to Labor Day, saying there’s still plenty of time for public hearings.  Farmington Republican Pat Garofalo:

“If you vote ‘red’ on this, you’re voting against making gas cheaper and you’re voting to continue the hurt and pain people are feeling.”

“Hypocrisy,” said Republicans about some Democratic sponsors of the bill, who pushed for a gas tax increase in 2019.  Aurora Democrat Dave Lislegard fired back…

…”that was during a 1.6-billion-dollar projected deficit, where our roads and bridges were crumbling.”

Republicans call a gas tax holiday an election year gimmick, saying Minnesotans want permanent tax relief.
