The Minnesota department of health says they are encouraged by the approval of the Johnson and Johnson COVID-19 vaccine. MDH’s Kris Ehresmann says those currently eligible for vaccination could receive the newly approved vaccine when shipments arrive this week.
“We view the Johnson and Johnson vaccine as a gamechanger, it has much easier storage and handling requirements, making it much more practical for use in the field.”
The state has been allocated just over 45-thousand doses of the newly approved vaccine.
Ehresmann says in the end people do not need to concern themselves with which vaccine they get.
“We encourage people to take the vaccine that they are offered, so we can get to that 80 percent coverage rate that we are working toward.”
