The Mankato Metro continues to see large job gains.

June employment figures were released by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development on Thursday and show the Mankato – North Mankato Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) gained 2,535 jobs, or 4.5-percent year-over-year.

Greater Mankato Growth crunched the numbers that show the Mankato Metro led all MSA’s for the sixth consecutive month.

Goods Producing jobs grew by 3.7-percent to 10,806 and Service Providing jobs were up by 3.2-percent to 38,511. May to June is typically a down time for the Private Sector, but in 2018 the sector stayed relatively flat and only lost 18 jobs month-over-month. There are currently 1,601 more jobs in the Private Sector compared to June of 2017.

The Public Sector bucked seasonal trends and jumped by 10.2-percent, the highest year over year increase ever recorded in the metro.
