The eighth annual Kiwanis Mankato Cookout is this weekend in Land of Memories Park.

Jeremy Prange says a $10 wristband will fill attendees with a lot of great food, including, “All-you-can-eat chicken and pulled pork. It will also get you two rib tickets for ribs. If you want more ribs they’re two dollars a ticket. If you don’t think you’re going to eat that much just buy individual $2 tickets and you can go sample the chicken, pulled pork, ribs.”

He says the top pitmasters from around the country will be at the event this year as well as many returning amateurs from the area. “We got the top 20 teams in the country, we have about 50 teams down there altogether. We’re going to have stuff for the kids to do, we’ll have bounce houses. The National Guard is going to have their rock climbing wall down there Saturday and Sunday,” he explained.

Prange added that the cookout is a focus on the community, its residents, and non-profit organizations from the Greater Mankato Area, and all of the money raised will go to local charities.

Since 2010, the event has raised more than $32,000.00.
