(Minneapolis, MN) — Senator Amy Klobuchar is crediting her team and U.S. diplomats for the safe return of a Minnesota man detained by the Russians in Ukraine. Klobuchar met with Tyler Jacobs yesterday to discuss his experience trying to get out of the war-torn country. Jacobs was held by Russian soldiers for ten days after trying to escape Ukraine to meet his evacuated wife and child in March. Klobuchar’s office worked with U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Sullivan and other diplomats to secure Jacobs’ release. Jacobs was in Ukraine teaching at a university in Kherson before the war began.
