A 22-year-old Lake crystal man is charged with two counts of DWI, two counts of leaving the scene of the crash without notifying the property owner of damage, and careless driving after crashing into several vehicles and a garage just after 4:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Lake Crystal Police believe Ryan Paulson hit a vehicle parked on West Nathan Street head-on, pushing it into a neighbor’s garage, sideswiped another car, and drove over the curb into another neighbor’s yard before driving away. Debris was found scattered across the road and a sweaty baseball hat was found at the scene.

While at the scene, the officer spotted a gold van with heavy front-end damage drive nearby, and remembered Paulson had been wearing the body odor smelling baseball hat that was found at the scene when he pulled him over five days earlier.

The criminal complaint shows that Paulson failed field sobriety tests and blew a .249 on a portable breath test – more than three times the legal limit.
