A 47-year-old Mankato man is facing two DUI charges after police say he crashed his car in the parking lot of a liquor store last month.

Mankato Police say Thomas Butler Jr. hit another car, and the owner of that vehicle said he smelled strongly of alcohol and left the scene of the crash.

Investigators tracked Butler down at his home, and the criminal complaint shows he said he’d had an O’Douls and orange juice – but failed field sobriety tests and blew a .19 on a breath test.

Police note that after failing the tests, Butler admitted to having consumed a half-liter of vodka mixed with orange juice before venturing out to the liquor store.
