A Mankato company has received a Manufacturing Leadership Award for its prompt recovery from a disastrous fire last September.

Dotson Iron Castings lost three molding lines, the conveyor sand delivery system, and all electrical, computer, pneumatic, and water lines in the molding and pouring area, and company officials say every piece of equipment in the plant had to be serviced due to the soot and residue.

A comprehensive three-part plan focusing on employees, customers and rebuilding the foundry was put in place, and while recovery efforts continue, just over four weeks after the fire Dotson was back pouring iron.

Dotson Iron Castings will be recognized by Manufacturing Leadership Council at their June gathering in California.
