A Farmington man is accused of raping a woman last November under the guise of a photo shoot.

The Mankato Department of Public Safety says the victim connected with a man on Facebook using the name Terrell Chandler, who persistently asked her to allow him to photograph her. After declining several times the woman finally agreed to meet and allow him to take portraits she believed were innocent photos.

The man claimed that his studio was unavailable and provided an alternate address for the shoot, which turned out to be a Mankato motel. Although she was initially uneasy, “Chandler” arrived with a large amount of photo equipment and the criminal complaint shows that gave the situation some credibility.

The victim says the situation began innocent but then “Chandler” began adjusting her clothing, saying her underwear was showing, and eventually reached down the front of her jeans.

The shoot continued with poses she said were more suggestive, and in one that had her back to him, she turned to notice he was naked from the waist down. The victim says “Chandler” pinned her to the bed and raped her.

Investigators learned that the room was rented by 32-year-old Bob Masaki, and the phone number listed on his hotel reservation matched that listed on “Chander’s” Facebook page. He is charged with two counts of felony criminal sexual conduct.

Court records show Masaki previously pled guilty to Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Fourth Degree in Olmsted County after he was accused of having sexual contact with a minor during a photo shoot.
