(Cloquet, MN) — The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent double murder-suicide from the weekend in northern Minnesota. Officials say they were dispatched to a residence in Culver Township around 1 a.m. on Saturday after a father called, asking them to check on his son, Cody Pirila. When officials arrived, Pirila was gone and they found the bodies of Jamie Hunter and his son Skylar, who was reportedly Pirila’s roommate. As investigators worked on the scene another deputy driving near Cloquet spotted Pirila’s vehicle and pursued him. As more officers showed up, Pirila allegedly called 9-1-1 and confessed to the two murders before taking his own life. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
