An Iowa man is facing a long list of charges after he was found slumped over in the driver’s seat in a car parked in a parking lot on Premier Drive Tuesday evening.

Mankato Police say 44-year-old Bradley Demuth of Gilbertville was awakened when an officer knocked on the window, and the criminal complaint shows that a meth pipe was seen under his leg and two large knives were visible on his belt.

The officer drew his weapon and waited for backup, and says Demuth told him there was also a pistol in the center console. He was taken into custody without incident.

A search of the vehicle turned up a ½ gram of meth, the handgun — with a 6-round magazine, fully

loaded, including one round in the chamber – and more than $500 in cash.

Investigators say Demuth admitted to using meth to help him stay awake and drive. A court-ordered blood draw was performed at the hospital.

Preliminary charges include drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a gun without a permit, carrying a pistol under the influence, and driving under the influence.
