The Mankato Department of Public Safety is looking for the suspect in a robbery and assault that took place at Cherry Ridge Apartments on Glenwood Avenue in Mankato.

DPS Commander Dan Schisel said the victim arrived at the Public Safety Center just after 11:00 p.m., “Reporting a robbery that had just occurred. The individual had just met someone on a social media platform and agreed to meet them at 101 Glenwood Avenue.”

Schisel said the victim was waiting between the two sets of lobby doors at the apartment building, when the suspect beat him and robbed him of his wallet and cell phone. “The suspect did appear to have a knife in his hand,” he explained, “But that was not used. It appears he was assaulted by either hands or feet.”

The 28-year-old Mankato man injured in the assault was taken to the hospital to be treated and is expected to recover.

Schisel said they are looking for a white man who is about 5’10 and 160-170 pounds. Last (Tue) night he was wearing jeans, a gray sweatshirt , and a blue stocking cap.

Investigators are still looking into whether there may be surveillance video of the incident and hoping potential witnesses may come forward.
